Last updated: November 3, 2026
This privacy policy explains which personal data is processed when you visit thecrimefilter.com, why, on what legal basis, and what rights you have. We keep data processing to a minimum: this website uses no analytics or tracking tools and no advertising, and it does not set cookies itself.

2. Content delivery and security (Cloudflare)
This website is delivered through Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend Street, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. Every request to our website first passes through Cloudflare’s network, which speeds up loading times and protects the website against attacks (for example DDoS attacks). In the process, Cloudflare processes technical data such as your IP address, the page requested, date and time and browser information. To protect against attacks, Cloudflare may in certain cases set a technically necessary security cookie.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in a fast, secure and reliable website). Cloudflare processes data on our behalf. According to Cloudflare, transfers to the USA are based on its certification under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and, as a fallback, on standard contractual clauses. More information: https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/
3. Hosting and server log files
This website is hosted by Hostinger International Ltd., 61 Lordou Vironos str., 6023 Larnaca, Cyprus.
Every time you open a page, your browser automatically transmits information that is stored in so-called server log files. This includes:
- IP address of the requesting device
- date and time of the request
- page or file requested
- referrer URL (the page you came from)
- browser type and version, operating system
Our hosting provider also creates automatic backups of the website to protect against data loss. These backups may contain the personal data described in this policy and are deleted automatically after a limited retention period.
This data is required to deliver the website, to keep it stable and secure and to fix errors. It is not merged with other data and is not used to identify you.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in the secure and reliable operation of the website). The hosting provider processes the data on our behalf. More information: https://www.hostinger.com/legal/privacy-policy
4. Contact by email
If you contact us by email, we process the information you provide (your email address, your name if you give it, and your message) in order to answer your request. Our email service is provided by Hostinger International Ltd. (address see section 3).
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR if your request relates to a contract or pre-contractual measures, otherwise Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in answering requests). We delete your messages once they are no longer needed, unless legal retention obligations apply.
5. “Hide episodes about” choices (stored only in your browser)
If you choose topics to hide (for example “Death of a child”), this choice is saved in your own browser (local storage, entry “tcfHide”) so that it still applies on the next page and on your next visit. It contains only the list of topics you chose. It is never sent to our server or to anyone else, and we cannot see it. You can delete it at any time with “Reset all” in the filters or by clearing your browser’s site data.
Legal basis: § 25(2) No. 2 TDDDG (storage that is strictly necessary to provide the feature you explicitly asked for).
6. Podcast information and cover art
Show and episode information (titles, dates, lengths, episode numbers) and cover art are retrieved by our server from the podcasts’ public RSS feeds and stored on our server. Cover art is shown as a small copy stored on our own server to identify each show. No data about you is transmitted to the podcast providers in the process; your browser does not connect to them when you view our pages.
7. Fonts and images
Fonts and images on this website are delivered from our own server (or through Cloudflare, see section 2). We do not load content from services such as Google Fonts.
8. Links to other websites
Our pages contain links to other websites, for example to the podcasts’ own websites and RSS feeds. When you click a link, you leave our website; we have no influence on how the linked websites process data. Please refer to the privacy policies of those websites.
9. Your rights
You have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you (Art. 15 GDPR)
- rectification of inaccurate data (Art. 16 GDPR)
- erasure of your data (Art. 17 GDPR)
- restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR)
- data portability (Art. 20 GDPR)
- object to processing based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, on grounds relating to your particular situation (Art. 21 GDPR)
- withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future (Art. 7(3) GDPR)
